La la Nurofen Plus la la  :: August 3rd, 2004 

The other night I was over at Rravens.com reading Rob’s entry on his recent uptaking of a codeine habit. Curious, and somewhat sore in the shoulders from some kind of muscular problem, I thought he may have been on to something. So, yesterday when Mellissa and I were out shopping we ventured to the chemist and bought the strongest stuff they had that didn’t require a prescription. Enter Nurofen Plus.

This stuff has to be God’s gift to muscular pain, and I’m not quite sure why it hasn’t become popular among angst-ridden teens, because today had to be the best day I’ve had at work in quite a while. Anything could have happened short of a second holocaust and I would have sat there merrily smiling away. This might have something to do with the fact that it contains ibuprofen and codeine, the later of which is derived from opium. I wonder whether they actually tested the potency of this stuff before releasing it on the general public? No drug on this planet should have the power to make my job pleasant … even interesting. It’s wrong, plane wrong I tell you!

I only took two of the suckers this morning at 7am before leaving for work, and while I’m not as bowled over now as I was this morning, I’m still having quite a good afternoon. I must say, Nurofen Plus get’s my stamp of approval. This will definitely be another one for my “Josh Recommends…” category. Click, click, click … there, done. Nurofen Plus, Josh’s non-prescription painkiller of choice…. buy it, because I told you so.

  Did you say Caramilk?  :: June 18th, 2004 

Once upon a time in a land far away there was a block of chocolate, and it’s name was Caramilk. Caramilk lived a somewhat short life, but it’s beauty spanned through the ages as a glorious example of what caramel chocolate should be.

You know what they say, “Can’t beat the real thing.” but if you can’t beat it, you may as well do your darned best to get close to it. That’s what Cadbury have done with their new chocolate block “Triple Decker – now with caramel!” Oh the memories of what once were. This new sensation is a delicate mix of milk chocolate, white chocolate and the once was “Caramilk” chocolate, all stacked together into this new tantalising chocolate indulgence.

It’s not quiet as good as it’s ancestor, but then you can’t beat perfection. I’m sure the budding “Caramilk” connoisseur will nevertheless appreciate the gentle hint of caramel in this delightful new breed.

For those of you who know what I’m talking about, and even for you who don’t, Josh recommends, “Cadbury Triple Decker – now with caramel!”

P.S. The “Caramilk” mentioned above is NOT the same as the “Caramilk” that Cadbury markets in America. The former was a solid milk chocolate in caramel flavour, while the American version is milk chocolate filled with a caramel centre. Cadbury in Australia calls this American version “Caramello”, while the “Caramilk” that we had here was discontinued by Cadbury in the mid to late 90′s.

This litte beauty isn’t a personal creation of my own like the cheeseburger toast I did last time, but seeing I love them so much, I thought i would recommend them here anyway.

Tuna melts are a fast easy snack/meal that you can have anytime, and it really satisifies when you’ve got the munchies. Here’s what you need

* Bread.
* 1 x 95 gram tuna tin (these are the small ones)
* Tasty cheese
* A griller for best results.

  Josh Recommends…  :: November 18th, 2003 

Ok, so I’ve added a new category for my blog, it’s called “Josh Recommends…” and is basically going to be a heap of stuff I like that I think is worth recommending. Seeing we live in a consumer driven society, I thought this kind of category would work well with the general public. Personally I abhor consumerism, people in general are stupid, and buy stuff they don’t need. Society on the whole would be better off taking a few tips from Ghandi, but anyways, enough of that, wouldn’t want to take you out of your western comfort zones…

Tonight on “Josh Recommends…” I thought we’d start out nice and easy with a recipe. We are taking a look at what I like to call “Cheeseburger Toast”. This is a personal creation of mine that I developed in early 2002. The basic ingredients are bread, tomato sauce (ketchup), mild mustard, and cheese singles (the ones wrapped in plastic).

First step is to take the desired amount of bread and chuck it in the toaster. After the toast is done apply generous amounts of tomato sauce and mustard to the toast and spead together with a butter knife. After sauces have been applied add a cheese single on top of the sauces and place in the microwave for approximately 15 seconds per slice of toast. Depending on your microwave’s power you may need to adjust cooking time to suit your needs. In any case, keep an eye on the cheese and when it starts to bubble remove the toast from the microwave. This can also be done under a griller if you don’t have a microwave. Tada, you have Cheeseburger Toast! Cheeseburger Toast is great for a light snack, or if you’re having McDonalds cravings but are too poor to by takeaway food.
