Today was a pretty good day. I didn’t have to go to work, hence I had a good day
This morning I took Melly to the doctor, and afterwards we met Melinda down town for lunch at Subway. It’s always good catching up with her as she’s one of those people with which you never have the unfortunate experience of uncomfortable silence.
After doing some stuff down town, Melly and I went over to my grandparents place to get some stuff JP signed. He showed us around all the house renovations they have been doing, and also the paintings he as been creating over the past few months. He has actually won some awards for his work, which I found rather impressive. I shouldn’t be suprised, he’s very creative, and he used to be a sign writer.
I spent most of the afternoon editing my forum so that I can just let it do it’s thing. The damn thing’s only editable through a online control panel, so all my CSS effort I have been working into this whole site couldn’t be applied, and I had to edit the damn thing one section at a time……that was rather annoying.
Hey, it’s November in about 5 minutes!
One of the suggestions from some visitors to this site was that I put a forum up for topic discussion. Seeing as though I love you all, I did a bit of browsing around for a good forum script. I came across Ikonboard, which looked pretty good, downloaded it, and spent the good part of 2 hours installing it .
Now, as you can see from the link above in the menu, you can cruise over to the Forum and start chatting away about whatever you like. It gives you a place to start discussion on topics which you would like to add depth too. Movable Type Comments is good for quick comments on blog entries, but to really get down and discuss something in length a forum is good to have too
.
Let me know what categories you would like to see up on the forum, and I’ll add them so you can all get started. To post on the forum you don’t need to register, but if you do, which takes about 2 seconds, you get nice extras (like a picture in your profile, signatures, avatars, etc.) Hope to see you all in there!
Start discussion……………..now!
Here’s a cool website I found the other day whilst searching for ever so cool wallpapers. There’s some neat stuff here if ya wanna take a look!
On another note, my site just got it’s 500th hit! Yay! Thanks also for your suggestions, I will look into getting a forum up and running, shouldn’t be too hard.
By the by, have you ever thought about how people end their writings these days with the word “cheers”. I really don’t get it, isn’t that something you say before taking a drink?
I’d like to add some more stuff to my site, but when it comes to content about me, I’m running a little low on new ideas. So here’s what I’d like. Write me a comment mentioning what you would like to see on my site, whether it’s here already and you want to see more of it, or a new addition. Don’t mention photos though, as there are more on the way.
I’ll take all thoughts into consideration. Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks peoples!
Hey Peoples,
Just another update regarding comments features. The reason you can’t see the bold, italics, underline and link buttons when using Mozilla is because of a fault in the Mozilla Javascript rendering code. It will work one day, when they get around to correcting it.
On another note, if you click on the comments link on any entry you will notice that there’s a smiley bar you can now use
. This works across browsers (IE, Mozilla, Opera). All ya have to do is type away in your comments window, and when you want to insert a smiley, click the appropriate image. Unfortunately it wont insert smilies anywhere except at the end of the currently typed text, so it’s a smilie-as-you-go tool. Hopefully it will save you all time and effort, not having to remember the tags for each smiley.
Anyhows, Comment away!
Man I’m tired! Didn’t get to bed til 4am this morning, after getting home from the concert, and spending some time working on my site. I realise it’s my own stupid fault, but I still feel like b*tching
. Had to get up around 10 this morning, Melly and I had to get the groceries done. I bought Sara Lee Rum and Raisin ice cream….mmmm ice cream
.
After unpacking the groceries I had some lunch then dropped Melly down to her Job training thing. That goes for three hours and then she has an interview with some kind of accounting firm at 4:30pm, so make sure you all pray (for those of you who believe). I’m off to work soon, though I wanted to get my entry for today done early as I have a feeling I’ll just want to come home and crash out. Though I’ll be having some ice cream first of course!
And for a reason! We went to Brisbane today to see Prince (aka the arstist formerly known as “the artist formerly known as”), live in concert! I didn’t really think I was going to enjoy it, but I came along because I had bought the tickets for a suprise for Melly seeing as though she really really likes him. To my suprise it turned out to be one of the best concerts I have ever been too. His music isn’t exactly my favourite style, but damn he can play! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone with quite the stage presence as he commands. If you could capture funk, and package it, Prince would be inside. I mean, I’ve seen high calibur bands like Live, The Offspring, Stabbing Westward, but their concert preformance pales into insignificance! The concert went for three hours, it was insane! almost one hour of that was straight jamming, totally on the spur of the moment. I think he must have had about 10 “this will be the last one” songs, because every time he just kept playing. He really loves his audience and knows how to work a crowd. It was a great time, and something that I enjoyed spending with Melly.
On the way home we gave two strangers from the concert a lift to a taxi, which was only a little bit out of the way. They were nice folk, and it was good to be able to help someone out. They had travelled from Mackay just to come to the concert. Mackay is a hell of a long trip from Brisbane. The only down point of the evening was that a cat ran under my car on the drive home. That made me sad.
Tonight, after fiddling with my site, Melly and I sat down to watch a movie. We hired out Cast Away, with Tom Hanks. This guy is an outstanding actor, yeah I know, most of you are already saying “Well yeah, duh!”, but seriously, he rocks! The movie was so well thought out. It was so amazing at the end when he arrives home, and sees all this stuff that was so hard to come by on the island, everything he looked at would now represent a whole new meaning.
There was lots of imagery in the film, something that I always like to see, it certainly adds a whole new level to the emotion of a film. I was kinda sad when he didn’t get to be with his love, but that made the movie more credible for me, as I really hate happy Disney endings to movies, especially ones that try to imitate life.
Anyways, its approaching 1:30am and I really need to get to bed.
Hey Peoples, I’ve added some formatting options for your comments. Now you can add bold, italics, and underline to your comments, and you have an easier way of adding a link too. Simply select the text you want to format, and then click the appropriate button. These buttons add the relevant html code to your comments automatically so they display all pretty.
Hope this makes your commenting more enjoyable!
Out of curiousity this afternoon, I went to the :google: website and typed in my name to see what hits came up. To my suprise I found a site that said I died in May of 2001. This is obviously another person, but damn it was so surreal seeing another person with the same name as me being written about as deceased. Have a look at the article, it’s really quite sad what happened to this guy, I was really angry after I read the article because his death was such a tragedy
Here’s what I’d like to suggest. Why don’t you go to :google: too, and see if anything interesting comes up when entering your own name. Leave me a comment if you find anything, as I think this would be rather interesting.
As a side note, I also apparently graduated from North Augusta Highschool in Georgia USA, with Honours. Even more strange is that this person has the same middle name as me too!
Anyways, let me know what you find
Seeing as though the friday five was not posted today on fridayfive.org, I thought i would find an interesting site to post up here instead, for you all to read.
Seeing as though my spite towards M$ has been growing in recent weeks, I thought it appropriate to link this article found on Lindows.com, it’s added fuel to my anti-M$ fire, and maybe soon I’ll be coming up with theories on how Bill Gates is Satan’s love child, who knows. In any case, for any of you who doubt Micro$oft’s evil marketing strategies, have a read!
What utter bullsh*t! Damn I hate the government. Australia is run by a bunch of red neck gits without the slightest clue of how to really help its people. Today while I was at work, Melly had to go in to see her job network agency, they wanted to book an appointment for her to do a “looking for employment” course. Basically they booked her in for Monday, that’s two working days notice, without consultation, and we have plans to travel to Brisbane that day on a trip we have already invested $200 in. That’s not even the bad part. She is required to sit there and “learn” how to write a resume, type an application, and other stupid trivial things that she has been doing for the past few years successfully. Why? Because some pencil pushing bureaucrat decided that she has “apparently” forgotten how to do such menial tasks since the last time she was put on intensive assistance……six months ago.
I am a tax payer, last year over 25% of my yearly income was taken out of my pocket and given to the government for them to go and waste it on f#cked up sh*t like this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that they are trying to get people off welfare and actively looking for employment, but I don’t work my ar$e off each year so they can waste my money, and the money of others, on retraining people who already have this stuff squared away. F#ck that sh*t man, our government DOES NOT WORK!
And no, I don’t mean pot. I mowed the lawn this afternoon after work. I hate mowing, especially when bindies make appearances in the thousands. It sucks having to pick them out of your shoes and clothes after you’re done, mainly because it takes far too long. One thing I do love though is washing all the dirt off afterwards. Nothing like going from “absolute grub” to “squeeky clean” under a nice warm shower. It’s like fluffy ducklings, warm towels, freshly cooked toast, kahlua and milk, the smell of rain, and all things nice.
Argh, what a day. Work bit huge quantities of arse today, but then what’s new. Got home around 5ish and Melly and I got take away for dinner, fish and chips. Dan came over around 7ish, we went for a long walk doing what we always do, discussing the deeper issues of life, we covered about 3 k’s or so on foot….. I have sore knees now for some reason. Gypsie came with us, and was being a rascal most of the way, but she came good on the last k or so, she’s a nice doggy. After we got back Dan had a look through our wedding photos while we had some beer, and I kicked him out not long afterwards. Seeing as though I’ve had a tiring day I am trying to have an early night, but like everything else in my life, it starts out with the best of intentions, but doesn’t get much further….It’s the thought that counts though right?
I’ve noticed something odd about my deeper posts. Not many people seem to have anything to say about them. One or two here and there, but on the whole I guess people either think they are gonna offend me (not much chance of that) and opt not to write what they think, or are not concerned with life’s meaning and ignore the chance to really look at their world. Fear not, I have no problem with people disagreeing with what I have to say. I really am interested to know what others think. So go on, write something down. I had 48 hits yesterday, guess how many people posted on my last entry, 2 (thanks to you both
). Maybe I touched a nerve, or maybe people just don’t care, but at least let me know what’s going through your head.
Anyways, that’s about all for now. I have urgent nocturnal matters to deal with.
[josh@esinner.com /] shutdown -h now
I saw an interview on Sunday the other day with the US’ President Bush. The main gist of his interview was in relation to the “War on Terror”. I think it’s rather strange how Bush and Johny Howard go on about making war on Terrorism, but in the process they seem to nourish it more than hinder it. Think about it. For the past two years now all we’ve been hearing about in the media is how the west is combining forces to subdue the apparent “reign of terror”. This is all very well and good on the surface, but have you really sat down and had a think about what has been done these past few years. I mean damn, it’s been almost two years now, and has anything really changed since 911? Hell no! It’s all the same, what is actually being done? Bugger all! Have a look. 911, then the Bali bombing, and more recently the JW Marriott car bombing. If they are so intent on stopping this so called “War on Terrorism” then why the hell are they just standing by letting it happen? Sure, there is a high degree of uncertainty to when these events are likely to hit, but if they are so uncertain, then why pretend to have control of what’s going on?
